Your Local Nerd in Stillwater
Stillwater, Perkins, Cushing, Perry, Yale, Pawnee, Drumright, Stroud and the towns along the way. A Local Nerd drives to you for house calls, or helps remotely when that's faster.
Pick a time, we come to your door, and you agree to the rate before we start. Remote help works too when that's faster.
In person from $110/hr. $39 books it, and the rest is charged when the work is done. Remote help $39 for 30 minutes. Card only, no cash or checks. You agree to the rate before we start.
If it plugs in and nobody can figure it out, we can help.
Ask anything you like. We'll explain what we're doing while we do it.
Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house
If it works in one room and not the next, that's a coverage problem and it's fixable. We start by moving things around, before anybody sells you a bigger bill.
Computers that have gotten slow or strange
Cleanups, updates, printers that stopped printing, files you can't find, and a backup so one bad day doesn't cost you years of photos.
Phones and tablets, set up your way
New phone and everything is in the wrong place. We move it all across, sort the photos out, and make it readable again.
Learning it at your own pace
We'll slow down or write the steps out for you whenever you ask. Learning it once beats calling somebody every month.
TVs, streaming and “where did my channel go”
New TV set up, streaming apps sorted out, remotes that work, and one clear explanation of which button does what.
Printers that won't print
Wireless printers drop off the network all the time. We'll get yours connected, printing and scanning, and explain why it keeps disappearing.
Doorbells, cameras and smart home gear
Cameras you can pull up when you need them, a doorbell that rings the right phone, a thermostat that keeps its schedule. We set it up and explain it once.
Scams, pop-ups and “is this email real?”
We'll go through what's on there, get rid of what shouldn't be, and show you how to spot the next one.
What tech help looks like around here.
College towns run on a cycle: everything breaks in August and needs setting up again in January, and getting a laptop ready before the semester is a job we do. Outside town, Payne and Noble counties are rural enough that internet options are limited, and where the router sits decides whether the far end of the house gets a signal.
Patient, unhurried help, especially for the 55+ crowd.
Stillwater has a lot of grandparents who want to watch a game and see the grandkids on a screen without phoning anybody for help. We set it up once, then teach you, so it stays set up.
Towns we reach in Stillwater & North-Central Oklahoma.

Send a NerdWhat people in Stillwater ask us.
Do you make house calls in Stillwater?
Yes. A Local Nerd drives in for house calls, and a visit in Stillwater is $110 an hour, shown before you book. Perkins, Cushing, Perry, Yale and Pawnee are in that first band too, and Drumright, Chandler, Stroud and Davenport are $130. Every town on this page books in person, and remote help works everywhere.
Can you help get a student laptop ready?
Yes: updates, security, printing, campus Wi-Fi, and a backup that runs on its own. Most of it fits in a remote session.
How much does tech help cost in Stillwater?
Remote help is $39 for a 30-minute session. In-person visits are $110 an hour within 25 miles of downtown Stillwater and $130 in the 25 to 50 mile band, and the higher rate is how we pay for the drive. Farther-out addresses are served remotely today, or by a drive from a neighboring Local Nerd. Type your ZIP when you book and you'll see the answer for your address. A $39 deposit books an in-person visit and the rest is charged after your Local Nerd finishes and you sign off on the work. Nerd on Call membership is $14.99 a month and includes two remote sessions and an in-person visit a year, plus 20% off anything extra. You always agree to the rate before we start.
Do you help older adults in Stillwater with technology?
Yes. We go at your pace and explain things in everyday words. If you'd like to learn to do it yourself, say so when you book.
Do you fix broken devices, or just set things up?
Yes, if broken means slow, glitchy, locked out, or won't do what it did last week. We don't open machines up to replace parts, and we don't recover data off a dead drive. When that's the problem, we say so and don't bill you for finding it out.
Every town is better off with a Local Nerd who lives there.
We look for a Local Nerd who knows the area, likes people, and is good at explaining things. Set your own availability, keep the majority of every booking, and help your neighbors. See what being the Local Nerd in Stillwater involves or apply here.
